The Deaf Resource Provisions are part of Wakefield Inclusion Special Educational Needs and Disability Support Service (WISENDSS). The Deaf Team work with children and young people and their families, across early years, primary and secondary mainstream settings to enhance inclusive education. We also manage and develop, alongside the host schools, 2 Deaf Resource Provisions. Our primary Deaf Resource Base is hosted by The Rookeries JIN and our secondary by Castleford Academy.
We are seeking to appoint a Qualified Teacher of the Deaf to join our team as soon as possible. Consideration will be given to experienced teachers with a BSL qualification who are willing to complete the mandatory qualification. We welcome applicants from those with primary and/or secondary experience.
You will be:
- An enthusiastic and creative Qualified Teacher/Teacher of the Deaf with experience of SEND and inclusion in mainstream or special school settings.
- Confident about planning and delivering a curriculum for Deaf pupils.
- Able to challenge, motivate and inspire teachers, support staff, parents/carers and other professionals.
- A good communicator, skilled in building relationships with colleagues and families.
- Able to work collaboratively with the Head of Deaf Resources in the strategic development and the operational management of the provision.
This is a challenging and exciting opportunity, to join a motivated and supportive team committed to providing a quality service, which ensures that deaf pupils are fully included in all aspects of school life and have the opportunities to become confident and independent learners.
