GDA Apprentice Business Administration, Youth Justice Service - work, earn and learn
Joining us, you will contribute to the administrative support, which is an essential role for team, service users and the public
The Youth Justice Service in the Directorate of Children’s Services is responsible for working with Children and Families who are involved with Criminal Justice System.
Greenwich YOS is a vibrant multi-agency team providing a range of services to tackle youth offending. We work directly with Children and Families to understand and address the causes of offending and reduce the risks to the Child and Public.
We are looking for someone with a keen interest in supporting the frontline of the Service, who is eager to learn, and is driven and self-motivated to deliver high quality work for a truly unique and exciting London borough.
Professional Duties:
The apprentice will be expected to:
- As allocated by your line managers, to perform a range of level 2 duties which include specific tasks related to the formal qualification.
- Work with colleagues, taking instruction, making notes and meeting the basic needs of the team.
- Communicate with both internal and external customers to the standard expected using a range of communication methods (verbal, written, telephone, email, letter etc).
- To deal politely with members of the public. After training, be able to deliver an acceptable level of customer service at all times.
- Research and collate basic data/information required both in the workplace and at college
- Use and maintain hand tools and equipment safely following training and instructions from your supervisor.
Team Specific Tasks:
To work under supervision to learn the role of Support Service Officer for example:
Administrative Assistant
- Create and update Children’s records on the Council’s database systems, inputting accurate information and providing data and reports
- Monitoring actions and supporting the efficient delivery of service.
- Order equipment, stationery and other items as required by the service manager.
- To send out standard letters.
- meeting room booking support,
- Photocopying, and scanning of documents.
- Receiving and sorting deliveries and answering queries.
- Dealing with incoming and outgoing post
- Dealing with telephone enquiries.
- Support the smooth running of Panels, Risk Management and Out of Court Disposals
Personal Development:
- To undertake a varied programme of work experience, practical and theoretical training leading to a recognised apprenticeship qualification in Business Admin level 3 as part of an apprenticeship programme.
- To actively participate in their own development plan, which will be agreed with the line manager and the assessor from the training provider. To undertake the requirements of the academic element of the apprenticeship (e.g. attendance at college and completion of academic work). A minimum of 20% of working week will be allocated to this.
